What to Expect at Your Immigration Consultation

Handling Federal Immigration Matters Across NY, CT, NJ and PA

Attorney Admitted in NY&CT Only

At your consultation, an attorney reviews your immigration history and goals, explains your options and the risks in plain language, and outlines the next steps. You do not need to file anything before you talk with us.

Before your consultation

Gather what you have, even if it is incomplete:

  • Passport and any other identity documents

  • Notices, letters or court papers from USCIS, an Immigration Court or a consulate

  • Copies of applications or petitions you have already filed

  • A list of dates you entered the United States and where you have lived

  • Your questions, written down

During your consultation

  1. We listen. You explain your situation and what you hope to achieve.

  2. We review. We go over your immigration history and documents.

  3. We explain your options. We describe each realistic path, the risks and the likely steps, in plain language.

  4. We answer your questions. Attorney Goxhaj is fluent in Albanian, Italian and Spanish.

After your consultation

If you decide to work with us, we outline the filings, deadlines and documents your case requires. If you decide not to, you leave with a clearer understanding of your options.

How long is an immigration consultation, and can I meet by video, phone, or in person?

Consultations with Goxhaj Law Firm PLLC last up to one hour. We encourage video appointments because they make it easy to meet with an immigration attorney wherever you are. Phone consultations are also available. If you prefer to meet in person, please call our office to arrange an appointment. For the current fee, please see our Consultation Cost page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need all my documents before I book? No. Bring what you have, and we will tell you what else is needed.

Is what I tell you confidential? We take your privacy seriously. If you consult our firm about possible representation, we handle information you share in accordance with the professional duties owed to prospective clients, even if you do not hire us. If we represent you, we protect information relating to your matter under applicable confidentiality rules. These protections have legal exceptions, and whether a particular communication is protected by attorney-client privilege depends on the circumstances.

To request a consultation, please provide only your contact information, a brief description of your immigration matter, and any urgent deadline. Do not send sensitive details or documents through the website unless we ask for them. Contacting us or scheduling a consultation does not, by itself, mean that we have agreed to represent you. We confirm representation and its scope in a written engagement agreement.

Can I book if I have already filed something or received a notice? Yes. Bring the notice with you, and note any dates on it.
